Learning Cashflow Manager BAS Basics

BAS Reporting

Cashflow Manager makes reporting your Business Activity Statement (BAS) figures to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) simple.

Before you are ready to report your BAS, ensure that your transactions have been entered into the correct account, month, year, and allocated correctly within the Cashflow section.

Your Money In and Money Out allocation columns should have the correct column name and tax type to ensure that your business records flow through to your BAS report accurately.

For more information on Column Allocation click here
If you need to add or change your columns with the Cashflow section, open the account that you need to change and click on [File] at the top left corner, then Customise, then Money In or Money Out.
This will open the Customise Columns window which you can make any changes required. Ensure you click on [Save] once you’re done.

Please Note: Our Cashflow Manager Gold product will automatically populate your W1 and W2 figures by feeding this information through from the Wages section of your program, based on the pays that have been entered. If you are not using Cashflow Manager Gold, you will need to report your W1 and W2 figures to the ATO manually. If you are using our Wages Manager product, your BAS will only show the W1 and W2 figures.

Accessing your BAS Report

When you are ready to lodge your BAS, click [Reports] on the left side of the main Dashboard, then double-click on BAS to open the report.

- Now select whether you wish to include all of your accounts, just the current account or to select specific accounts to be included in your report.

- Select the date range to be reported by selecting the month, quarter, year or custom date range options.

- The monthly, quarterly and yearly date range options stem from the month and year that is currently open, within the Cashflow - Money In or Money Out sections. The wages BAS dates can be selected, if you are wanting the W1 and W2 for a different date range.

- You can also tick the Use Simpler BAS option to report only your G1 (total sales), 1A (GST on sales) and 1B (GST on purchases), which can be used for small business owners who have been automatically transferred to the Simpler BAS option by the ATO, reducing the amount of GST information required.

- The reporting screen will also allow you to save the report as an excel format, save the report as .PDF format to your computer and to preview/print your report, if required.

Lodging BAS Reporting Electronically

To lodge your BAS reporting electronically in Cashflow Manager, you will use the Standard Business Reporting (SBR).

For more information on lodging your BAS via Standard Business Reporting click here.

This method requires your business to be registered for a MyGovID and that you are using the latest version of Cashflow Manager. Once this has been set up, you can start lodging your reporting straight away.

If your accountant has advised that you need to make a BAS adjustment, click on the [Adjustments] button on the BAS report option screen.
