Converting your Version 11 business file to Version 12

Converting your Version 11 business file to Version 12

Summary

If you're updating from Version 11 to Version 12, you will need to convert your business file to the new format. Fortunately, this is easily done by first creating a new back-up of your Version 11 Business File, then converting it to the new format using the built-in tools within your Version 12 software. Read on for detailed instructions.

Step 1 - Create a Back-up of your current Version 11 file

Having an up-to-date backup file will ensure that you do not lose any work you have done.

To create a Back-up file:
  1. Open Version 11 of Cashflow Manager and select your business file
  2. Click on [File],and select [Backup].
  3. The Data Back-up screen and back up file name will automatically appear.
  4. Click on the [Browse] tab to select the location you wish to backup your file.
  5. The save as screen will appear – “navigate” to the location you wish to backup your file (eg. USB Drive). The name of your file will appear, with the extension b12.
  6. Simply click on [Save].
  7. The location and name of your backup file will then appear in the Data Backup screen. Click on [Backup] and [Ok].
Cashflow Manager saves your data in a default database file on your PC, which can be located at: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\CFM\Cashflow11\Data

‘Username’ is the name Windows uses for your account. For example, Bill Smith might have a Windows username of Bill Smith. The file would then be located in: C:\Users\Bill Smith\AppData\Roaming\CFM\Cashflow11\Data

Note: To view AppData you may need to allow 'hidden items' to be shown. This can be enabled in the [view] tab of File Explorer.

Step 2 - Convert your Version 11 Backup File

To import and convert your Version 11 Backup File:

  1. Open into the latest version of Cashflow Manager,
  2. Go to [Convert Version 11 file] on the side menu of the Welcome Screen

  1. Click on [Add File] and select the file you want to Convert - Make sure it is your most recent file by checking the "Date Modified" was when you last worked on it (It will a .b11 or a .c11 file to chose from). You can convert either of them.
  2. Your file will now be converted. You can select Yes to convert an additional File, or select No to continue to program.

Note: If you need to import older versions (prior to Version 11) into Version 12, please speak with our support team for help.
