How do I pay Super contributions using SuperStream?

Choose a SuperStream Option

Before you get started with SuperStream you need to think about which payment option will be best for your business.

There are currently two different ways in which you can make your SuperStream payment:

Manual Method

1. Register your company and employees with the clearing house of your choice
2. Create a Superannuation Remittance report in your payroll software
3. Click on the ‘Reports’ tab.
4. Select the ‘Superannuation Remittance Report’ and click [Next].
5. Specify the options for the report by selecting the applicable employees and contribution period. For a comprehensive report select ‘All Funds’. Click [Preview].
6. A preview of the report will appear. You can print, email or save the report as a PDF.
7. Login to your clearing house and manually enter the super payment for each employee.

File Method

1. The ‘Superannuation Payments’ screen will then appear. Select the correct contribution period. The payment date will default to today’s date. You also have the option to transfer the payment to Cashflow Manager. Click [Next].
2. The ‘Superannuation Payments’ screen will appear. Click on the [Create SuperStream File] button.
3. The ‘Sender and Payer Information’ screen will then appear. Here the organisation name and ABN will automatically pre-fill. You must enter your name, email, phone number, BSB, account number and account name before creating the SAFF.
4. Click on the [Create SAFF] button.
5. The SAFF file will be in a CSV format. The file name will automatically pre-fill, and the file location will default to C/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/CFM/Cashflow14/SBR (you can change the file location by navigating to it). Click the [Save] button.
6. The SAFF file has now been created and the super payment successfully recorded.
7. Login to your clearing house and import your SuperStream file.
8. Register your company and employees with the clearing house of your choice.

SuperStream & Report Changes for Payday Super:

As per the Payday super changes, it is now a requirement to pay your employees superannuation on their pay date.
Under the new rules, Superannuation Guarantee (SG) payments need to be deposited into an employee's super fund within 7 business days of paying their salary and wages. To pay your employees superannuation on the pay date, create your pays as normal, then go to SuperStream following the below steps:

  1. Select Superannuation under Wages on the left-hand side
  2. Go to SuperStream on the right-hand side

If you don’t see SuperStream follow the steps listed here: How to setup SuperStream and create SAFF electronic file

Once in SuperStream for the new 2027 financial year, you will need to select the Pay Period for the super payment.

The amounts owing for that pay period will then show below and you will be prompted to create the SuperStream file.

If you wish to check or confirm any superannuation amounts you can do so by running a Pay Process Date or Date Super Paid report depending on what the report is used for.

For example, the superannuation contribution report will only show data that has been marked as paid through SuperStream, so the option for this report will be Date Super Paid.

The superannuation remittance report shows the amount of super generated for that specific period which is why you will see the option Pay Process Date.

If you wish to confirm the amount showing in SuperStream, we recommend viewing the superannuation remittance report for the exact figure for that pay date.
