Adding a Domestic Violence Leave entry

Adding a Domestic Violence Leave entry

All employees in the Fair Work system (including part-time and casual employees) will be entitled to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave in a 12-month period. This new entitlement replaces the existing entitlement to 5 days of unpaid family and domestic violence leave under the National Employment Standards (NES).

Employees are entitled to the full 10 days upfront, meaning they won’t have to accumulate it over time. The leave doesn't accumulate from year to year if it isn’t used.

Family and Domestic Violence Leave should be recorded in pays from February 1st, 2023 for businesses with 15 or more employees and August 1st, 2023, for businesses with less than 15 employees.

Further information about Family and Domestic Violence Leave can be found here: ATO Information

How to record Domestic Violence Leave:

There is a new leave tab when going to [Modify Employee], then to [Leave]:

2. The Days Used will automatically change ones the leave is recorded in a pay.

3. To pay this leave first go to [Pay Single Employee], then select [Other Payments] on the right, then click on the [Domestic Violence Leave] tab.

Please note: number of hours will change to Amount if the employee is on a Nominated Gross pay structure.

5. Then select how you would like this to show on the payslip, if the first option of Include in Normal Hours is selected then the Domestic Violence Leave will no show as a separate line and will be included in the Normal Hours.
Please note: if the employee is on a Salary pay structure this will change to Include in Base Salary, is the employee is on a Nominated Gross pay structure this will change to Include in Nominated Gross

6. The option of Existing Payment Name can only be selected if this leave has been paid prior and New Payment Name allows you to enter your own custom name you can choose to use. Both Existing Payment Name and New Payment Name will show as a separate line on the payslip using the name you’ve chosen.

Please note: there are restrictions on words such as Domestic, Violence and Abuse, that can’t be used for the payment name. If they were included, you will get a message to notify you to choose a different name.

7. When you have finished entering in the required information, press ok and you can then calculate the pay.
